Youth Services

High Management Youth Home (Group Care Intensive Services), the first of its kind in South Carolina is located in the Columbia area, provides group living services to adolescent males ages 11-21 who present severe emotional and behavioral challenges. Residents who reside in the youth home typically attend school within the community, receive individual and group therapy, participate in daily therapeutic recreational activities, and learn daily living skills in order to improve their ability to function in a community setting. A multi-disciplinary approach is utilized for assessment and treatment planning purposes with the goal of transitioning residents into a less restrictive residential arrangement.

Treatment Foster Care (TFC) is an intensive treatment program which incorporates clinical services in a structured foster home setting. The goal of TFC is to allow the client to overcome emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric problems in a supportive, individualized, and flexible placement. This often allows the child to move to a less restrictive environment or return to a permanent home setting. Programs and interventions are tailored to the age and diagnosis of each child. TFC differs from regular foster care in that the foster parents serve as both caregivers of the child and active agents in the treatment process. Included in the TFC program is Temporary De-Escalation Care. TDC is a short-term community based service designed to de-escalate a potential crisis situation and prevent placement disruption by providing respite in a supportive foster home setting.

The Clinical Day Program
(CDP) is a comprehensive system of individual, family, and group treatment services designed to serve children and youth with severe emotional and/or behavioral disturbances in a structured, therapeutic school environment. CDP services are provided in coordination with public education services (Richland School District I) for middle and high school aged youth who have been unsuccessful in the traditional public school setting. Treatment is provided within a psycho-social context including programming that integrates therapeutic interventions and recreational activities and is crafted to provide a more effective response to the individual needs of the clients and their families.
